What that actually means

When I recommend a filter, a tool, or a part in an article or video, I may link to it at an online retailer. If you buy through that link, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale as a thank-you for sending you their way. The price you pay is exactly the same as if you'd gone to the site directly.

A few honest points about how we handle this:

• Recommendations come first. We recommend things because they're what we'd use or suggest to a homeowner anyway — not because of the commission. If a product isn't worth buying, we won't link to it.
• It supports the site. Commissions help cover the cost of running HVAC DIY Help and making free guides and videos. It's how the content stays free.
• It's always your call. You're never obligated to use our links. If you'd rather search for a product yourself, go for it — no hard feelings.
